Chapter 4. Does it seem like it’s only just begun?

„So what was that all about?“ – Jared asked, as the older brother entered the room.
„I don’t know what you’re refering to..“ Shannon said, as he put his jacket on the chair.
Jared smiled.  „You liked her?“ he asked, as Shannon sat beside him on the couch. „Well yeah, she’s something…“ „Yeah, she is, isn’t she?“ They sat in silence for a few moments, watching television, or rather through TV, both occupied with their own thoughts.
„Look..“ Shannon started „I see you like her too, I mean you wouldnt brought her with you to the restourant if you didn’t liked her in the first place..“ he looked at his brother. „so, I’ll be nice, and I’ll step back. You’re my brother, and she’s just .. well she’ll probably be gone in a week, so yeah. Besides, you saw her first.“ He said nudging him playfully.
Jared smiled confidently “Good. I’m gonna call it a night.” He said while getting up
“’night bro” - Shannon said and turned his attention to something on the TV.
As he walked towards the bedroom Jared thought about things Shannon said, especially one sentence caught his attention ‘she’ll probably be gone in a week’.. And that would probably be true, because it was true with almost every girl Shannon had recently. That was one of the differences between them, Jared wanted something serious, and he knew that Shannon only wants to have fun. But he couldn’t imagine how wrong he was this time.


Shannon was sitting in the living room, and watched TV, without really paying attention to what’s on it. He was preoccupied with his thoughts. He thought about Helena, and how close he was to kiss her, but he didn’t.. because of his brother. “I’ve done a right thing” – he thought to himself. “Besides, she’d be better with him…for me she would probably just be another fling..” he tried to convince himself. 
But yet, he still couldn’t stop thinking about her.
